In October, my colleague Marian Hurmuz and I travelled to Sweden to attend the NordiCHI’24 conference. NordiCHI is a Human-Computer Interaction conference and this year's theme was 'Live- Uniting HCI for a Hyperlocal and Global Experience'. The conference took place from 13 to 16 October and Marian and I were both accepted to give a presentation.
The conference was held in Uppsala, an hour's drive from Stockholm. Uppsala is a beautiful friendly city with many old buildings and a beautiful cathedral. We were lucky that the sun was shining which made for beautiful autumn weather. It was absolutely no punishment to walk from our hotel to the location of the conference or to get some fresh air between sessions.
The conference took place in the main building of the University of Uppsala. A beautiful old building which is located right in the center of Uppsala. It was built in 1880 in a Romanesque Renaissance-like style and this was certainly visible. The walls were covered with beautiful ornaments and gold-colored paintings. On Tuesday it was our turn to give a presentation. There were quite a few people present at our presentation and good questions were asked, which led to nice discussions and new insights.
After 5 days in Sweden with a well-filled conference program and a satisfied feeling about our presentations, it was time to fly to the Netherlands again. It was a very educational week full of fun, interesting talks, and nice people. In short, a nice journey that brings out the fun things about being a researcher!
